Here’s a great way to keep your home free of mayhem and mildew: combine 1/3 cup of fresh lemon juice, with ¾ cup of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide. Add about ten drops of lavender oil (lemon is a good choice too) and mix well. This do-it-yourself mixture is a great way to have bleach on hand whenever you need it. It makes 4 litres and perfect for those bathroom spills and stains you need to clean up, pronto!
The Dilly-O on Do-It-Yourself Disinfectant
There’s something about having a do-it-yourself disinfectant on hand that just makes you feel like a supermom (or super dad!) It’s cheap to do and lasts longer than the store bought brand. Here’s how to get it done: you’ll need a spray bottle and some ingredients that you already have on hand.
Mix together 2 cups of cold water, 20 drops of tea tree oil, 1 teaspoon of dish soap and ½ cup of white vinegar. Pour all ingredients into a spray bottle and shake vigorously. Done!
